Window inserts are pine frames wrapped in 2 layers of transparent plastic and lined with weather-stripping that are compression-installed on the interior side of existing window frames to reduce heat loss, save money, and reduce negative environmental impacts from fossil fuel use for heating. A community window insert building workshop is a “barn-raising” type of event that involves members of a given community coming together in a multiple-day workshop to build window inserts for themselves and their community, trained by volunteers from a Maine-based non-profit organization called WindowDressers. Low-income households are eligible for free window inserts.
A window insert build is being planned for Fall, 2024. More information about ordering inserts will be available in the next few months.
22 Bayview Drive, Perry, Maine 04667, United States
The window insert build will be every day August 21-29, 2023 9AM - 7:30.
